Minto-Brown Park
At 1,200 acres, Minto-Brown is bigger than New York City’s Central Park! With a mix of paved paths, picnic areas, river access, wetlands, and a 30-acre dog park, Minto-Brown has something for everyone. Bird watchers–keep a look out for great blue herons, osprey, and bald eagles!

McDonald Dunn Research Forest
Located on the north side of Corvallis, the McDonald Dunn Research Forest offers an urban escape for hikers, trail runners, and mountain bikers. As a research forest, the area is managed by OSU and the City of Corvallis, and our friends at Team Dirt help conduct trail maintenance and advocate for the mountain biking and trail running communities. Make sure to check Team Dirt’s website before heading out to McDonald Dunn, since they have a helpful map system and updates on trail closures throughout the park.

Powell Butte Nature Park
There’s so much to explore at Powell Butte Nature Park! Tucked into the eastern outskirts of Portland, Powell Butte is an extinct cinder cone volcano topped with a mix of grassland and forest, including some old-growth western red cedar and Douglas fir trees. The Powell Butte Summit Loop Trail winds 2.9 miles around the top of Powell Butte, offering excellent birdwatching opportunities (look for birds of prey like kestrels and red-tailed hawks!) and beautiful views of Mt. Hood, the Portland area, and the Columbia Gorge. For the past few months, TKO volunteers have been conducting trail maintenance at Powell Butte, clearing brush, pruning, and reviving trails.
