Trail Ambassador Intro Hike – Latourell Falls

Trail Overview:

The is one of the most popular day-use trails in the Columbia River Gorge. Easily accessible from Portland, family friendly, and full of amazing views, Latourell Falls in Guy W. Talbot State Park is heavily visited throughout the season.

Hiking information:

We will be hiking the Latourell Falls Trail from the trailhead right off the Historic Highway, up to Upper Latourell Falls, down to the base of Latourell Falls, and back to the trailhead. This is a 2.4 mile loop trail with about 625 feet in elevation gain, which occurs mostly at the beginning of the hike. This hike is generally considered to be moderate intensity and is suitable for kids and beginner hikers. Dogs are welcome but must be on leash. What to expect:

We will be meeting at the trailhead in the morning to do introductions, chat Trail Ambassadors, and set up the table station before heading out on the hike. This site is managed by Oregon State Parks and does not require a parking pass or day fee. We ask that you follow all posted signage, including for parking.

You should expect to participate in this hike for its entirety. For safety reasons, please do not arrive late or expect to be able to leave early.

What to bring:

• Plenty of water
• Lunch + snacks
• Any medications or emergency supplies you may need
• Sunscreen + insect repellent
• A pack to bring all of this with you on trail

What to wear:

• Comfortable shoes for hiking a few miles
• Rain gear, insulating layers, sun protection, etc. as appropriate for the weather
