Scouter’s Mountain Trail Building Trail Party

Project Information:

We’ll be shaping the last bit of the trail near the intersection with the main trail system. For this we’ll hike only a very short distance, though we may take a quick tour of the rest of the trail. We’ll use digging tools to shape the tread and shovels/wheelbarrow/tamper to lay gravel on the freshly dug trail surface.

Hiking information:

We’ll hike only 200 yards to the project site, but may hike a total of about a mile to tour the rest of the trail. You should plan to participate in this trail party for its entirety. For safety reasons, please do not arrive late or expect to be able to leave early.

What to bring:

  • Lunch
  • Plenty of water
  • Snacks
  • Gloves if you have them (loaner gloves available)
  • A backpack to bring all ofthese things on the trail

What to wear:

  • Boots (Please wear something sturdy that will protect your toes from sharp tools. Tennis shoes are not recommended and may not be allowed.)
  • Work gloves (loaner gloves available)
  • Long sleeved shirts and pants.
  • Rain gear, insulating layers, sun protection, insect repellent, etc. as appropriate for the weather
  • TKO will supply hard hats and safety glasses
