Project Information:

Join TKO for a Trail Party adventure at the Horse Creek North Trail in the Drift Creek Wilderness area of the Siuslaw National Forest!

We will focus on cutting brush to clear the trail corridor and sawing downed logs to get the trail back into shape. This is day 2 of an optional 2 day trail party!

Hiking information:

The trail is an out and back that is 5 miles one way and 10 miles round trip. The trail starts at the top of a hill and you hike down into a canyon with a gradual decline of about 600 feet in elevation.

You should plan to participate in this trail party for its entirety. For safety reasons, please do not arrive late or expect to be able to leave early.

Camping Information:

We realize this location can be far away for folks to drive to so to make it worth your time volunteers are also invited to dry camp at the Horse Creek North trailhead either before, during, or after the event.

This is a dry camping area meaning there is no running water, flush toilets or any other amenities. There is a vault toilet at the trailhead.

*NOTE: Volunteers who choose to camp should be prepared to be entirely self-sufficient. Volunteers are expected to abide by all Forest Service rules during off-hours and will be responsible for their own safety, comfort, and well-being.

Volunteers are expected to come equipped with everything they need to be successful for a night of camping.

• Plenty of water
• Lunch + snacks
• Gloves if you have them (loaner gloves available)

• Sunscreen + insect repellent
• A pack to bring all of this with you on trail

What to wear:

• Boots (Please wear something sturdy that will protect your toes from sharp tools. Tennis shoes are not recommended. Open-toed shoes will not be allowed.)
• Work gloves (loaner gloves available)
• Long sleeved shirts and pants
• Rain gear, insulating layers, sun protection, etc. as appropriate for the weather
• TKO will supply hard hats and safety glasses

Directions will be supplied to registrants via email 48 hours before event.
