Connor Ryan is a Hunkpapa Lakota professional skier, but much of his time skiing has been on Ute land. He’s long questioned his relationship to this ancestral land. We follow Connor as he explores tensions that define the outdoor spaces we love and our relationships to these spaces. Specifically exploring themes of reciprocity, recreating on Native land, as well as land and water use related to outdoor sports and the ski industry. On this journey, Connor spends time with Ute leaders and youth, as well as his long-time mentor and fellow professional skier Cody Townsend. Through this film, we seek to break the mold of a classic ski film by elevating Indigenous voices and perspectives.
