Work Type: evaluation of reported slide, brushing and tread maintenance, possible removal of logs

Project Information:

There has been a report of a new slide on the trail, but there is conflicting information about the size or scope of the slide. Our primary goal is to locate and evaluate this situation and repair it if possible. Based on our findings, we may spend the time doing routine maintenance such as brushing back vegetation, making repairs on the tread surface, and removing logs that may have fallen over the winter.

Hiking information:

The trail is 2.5 miles in length, with 600′ of elevation change from top to bottom. Because the FS road to the top is washed out, we will start at the bottom and work our way up.

You should plan to participate in this trail party for its entirety. For safety reasons, please do not arrive late or expect to be able to leave early.

What to bring:

• Plenty of water
• Lunch + snacks
• Gloves if you have them (loaner gloves available)
• Any medications or emergency supplies you may need
• Sunscreen + insect repellent
• A pack to bring all of this with you on trail

What to wear:

• Boots (Please wear something sturdy that will protect your toes from sharp tools. Tennis shoes are not recommended. Open-toed shoes will not be allowed.)
• Work gloves (loaner gloves available)
• Long sleeved shirts and pants
• Rain gear, insulating layers, sun protection, etc. as appropriate for the weather
• TKO will supply hard hats and safety glasses

Directions will be supplied to registrants via email 48 hours before event.
