Burnt Lake Crosscut Logout Trail Party – Mt Hood

Join TKO as we use crosscut saws to remove some logs from the Burnt Lake Trail #772.

Project Information:

We have reports of some logs down across the Burnt Lake Trail! This trail has a gradual elevation gain for 3.4 miles until reaching the intersection of Zigzag Mountain Trail #775. We will start at the Burnt Lake South Trailhead #772 and use crosscut saws to remove as many logs as we can. Volunteers without a current crosscut certification can sign up under the Volunteer RSVP ticket and help us remove logs and brush (Swampers).

Hiking information:

We will hike approximately 3.4 miles, and gain 1,500 feet in elevation clearing logs until we reach the intersection of Zigzag Mountain Trail #775. If time allows, we will continue on the Burnt Lake Trail to Burnt Lake.

You should plan to participate in this trail party for its entirety. For safety reasons, please do not arrive late or expect to be able to leave early.

COVID-19 Information:

**You will be asked to electronically sign the e-waiver for this event, provide proof of vaccination or recent negative COVID-19 test result, and perform a self-assessment health screening within the 24 hours preceding the event.** The crew leader for this event will verify that you have completed these requirements at the trailhead safety talk before the trail party begins. The registration confirmation and pre-event emails will contain further details and links.

What to bring:

  • Lunch
  • Plenty of water
  • Snacks
  • Gloves

What to wear:

  • Boots (Please wear something sturdy that will protect your toes from sharp tools. Tennis shoes are not recommended and may not be allowed.)
  • Work gloves.
  • Long sleeved shirts and pants.
  • Rain gear, insulating layers, sun protection, etc. as appropriate for the weather
  • TKO can supply hard hats and safety glasses if needed. (Please let us know if you need to borrow PPE)


We will be meeting at the Burnt Lake South Trailhead taking Forest Road 27 to get there. FR 27 can take close to an hour to drive up. There are areas on this road that may require a vehicle with adequate clearance and possibly AWD or 4WD. Directions will be supplied to registrants via email 48 hours before event.
